On 7 December 2023, as part of the HOTHREAT project, a consortium team of experts led by Safety Core carried out an inspection at Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus.

The inspection offered the consortium a valuable opportunity to work within a large, multifunctional resort environment. Unlike more traditional hotel settings, this type of facility combines accommodation, leisure, infrastructure, and guest services on a broader scale, making it especially relevant for examining how security considerations apply across complex hospitality operations.

The visit therefore brought an additional layer of perspective to the project. It allowed the experts to reflect on security and preparedness in a setting where spatial diversity, service variety, and operational complexity all play an important role. This helped broaden the practical basis for the project’s recommendations.

The inspection also encouraged exchange with resort representatives, making it possible to connect strategic security thinking with the realities of managing an extensive and service-rich destination. Such encounters are particularly valuable when project outcomes are intended to support a wide range of hospitality models.

Through the Aphrodite Hills visit, HOTHREAT further strengthened its understanding of how resilience-oriented solutions can be shaped for complex resort environments as well as for conventional hotel facilities.
