On 13–14 November 2023, as part of the HOTHREAT project, a consortium team of experts led by Safety Core carried out an inspection at three ATIRAM hotels in Barcelona: Arenas, Tres Torres, and Mesón Castilla.

The Barcelona inspection stood out because it took place across several hotels operating in a busy international urban context. This offered the experts an opportunity to observe how protective measures and organisational practices function in facilities serving diverse guest flows within a dynamic metropolitan setting.

The inspection focused on the operational dimension of security in hotels located in a major tourist destination. The experts examined how preparedness, coordination, and organisational arrangements can support resilience in environments where continuity, service quality, and adaptability are all essential.

Another important aspect of the visit was the exchange of perspectives between the consortium and the hotel teams. Working directly with facilities located in a large European city enriched the project with insights shaped by real hospitality practice under demanding urban conditions.

By including the ATIRAM hotels in Barcelona in the inspection programme, HOTHREAT expanded its practical knowledge base and strengthened its ability to formulate recommendations relevant to internationally oriented hotel operations.
